Off-chain data storage is offered using a simple but effective method of storing torrent metadata within QURAS blocks, allowing torrent participants to use the permanently available torrent metadata files to share data off-chain. This is particularly useful in the field of big data, where torrent decentralized technologies can reduce the load on any single server.

Traditionally, torrent sharing is arranged by a single public server in which participants download the metafiles . Participants are unable to organize without the availability of this server, reducing reliability. The data storage method consists of two parties – Clients, who pay for the storage of data and Offerors, who sell storage space to the network.

Clients can search through the available list of storage Offerors to see an acceptable provider of storage according to price or location. Once the Offeror is selected, the Client can choose any type of file to store and encrypt it with a dedicated storage key. Once the file is prepared, the client uploads the file to the Offeror, completing the transaction.

Offerors can register the amount of storage they would like to provide to the storage network and set the price which the Clients must pay in order to rent storage space. Once a client accepts the offer, the Offeror will receive an encrypted copy of the file for storage. Since the file is encrypted, the Offeror will not be able to see the contents of the file, protecting the privacy of the Client, and likewise, the Offeror is protected as any type of file can be stored safely without the risk of file execution, as the file is encrypted.

The QURAS block explorer acts as both a torrent metafile indexer and Client- Offeror marketplace. The block explorer will exist as a web application and allow for public discussion within each searched block. This gives the ability for the community to discern broken or malicious files in the public domain. All fee payments regarding file storage are paid in XQG, which is obtained in various ways explained in section 4.

QURAS uses delegated byzantine fault tolerance (TSdBFT) to maintain consensus across nodes.This mechanism was chosen due to its efficiency by creating an additional tier of limited consensus keeper which propose blockchain states to the underlying nodes.

The consensus nodes are tasked with the creation of new blocks on the QURAS blockchain, to which the full nodes can store and sync the agreed ledger between each other after validation. Light wallets can refer to the saved blockchain state on the full node to operate. This option is ideal for interacting with the QURAS network on devices with low storage.
